Why Do Muslim Women Wear A Veil?

Definition of the veil:

The cloth is worn by women and it is used to cover the head and shoulders. In eastern countries, often veil is used especially for the face.

There are different types of veils which Muslims women may choose to wear.

Types of Veil (for Muslims) _

Niqab:

In this type, a woman covers her head and face, but she does not cover her eyes, and its shape is a loose garment. It covers a woman from head to feet. It is also called Abaya.

When a woman goes to perform the Umrah then you will experience that Abaya is part of Umrah because when a woman wears her normal dress such as for Ihram then she covers her normal dress with an Abaya.

Umrah is not difficult for these days because many travel agencies make different packages as Cheap Umrah Packages All Inclusive for you so that you can perform your Umrah.

Hijab:

In this type, a woman covers her hair and neck, but she does not cover her face. It is also called headscarf.

Burka:

In this type, a woman covers herself completely. You can understand it such as it covers the entire body and face, with a grille or mesh window across the eyes for a woman to see out of.

Chador:

In this type, a woman wears a loose robe and it is made by a single cloth. The chador is a combination of the veil, head covering and shawl.

Dupatta:

In this type, a woman wears a long scarf which is loosely draped across the head and shoulders. It is commonly used in South and Asia and usually paired with matching garments.

Social benefits of wearing Hijab:

1: Protects from Male Harassment

2: Hijab Represents Purity

3: Wearing Hijab eliminates competition amongst women

4: Women veiling places focus on intellect

5: Hijab increased self-esteem

6: Hygienic Purposes

Scientific Benefits of wearing Hijab:

It works for a woman such as a skin shielded from the Sun’s harmful rays.

It saves a woman’s hair from pollution and dust.

It is proved by Medical test that 40-60% heat is lost through the head. If a woman wears a veil then in this way she saves herself from heat.

A major reason a Veil in our society saves a woman and girl from a Non-Maharam. If you are a female and you want to visit the site of Makkah this year due to perform Umrah. Then you should know that you will need a Mahram if you have not a Mahram then Saudi Embassy will not issue the Umrah Visa.

Mahram word is derived from Haraam according to the Arabic term. The literally meaning of Mahram is something which is sacred or prohibited.

As Allah says in the Holy Quran (Surah an-Nissa: verses 22-23):

Translate of verse no.22 of Surah an-Nisa:

And don’t marry at all those women whom your father had married, except what has already happened.
Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful and was evil as a way.

Translate of verse no.23 of Surah an-Nisa:

Forbidden to you [for marriage] are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your father's sisters, your mother's sisters, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, your [milk] mothers who nursed you, your sisters through nursing, your wives' mothers, and your step-daughters under your guardianship [born] of your wives unto whom you have gone in.

But if you have not gone in unto them, there is no sin upon you. And [also prohibited are] the wives of your sons who are from your loins, and that you take [in marriage] 2 sisters simultaneously (at the same time), except for what has already occurred. Indeed, Allah is ever (always) Forgiving and Merciful.
