Important Facts About Hajr-e-Aswad (Black Stone)



1. The Black Stone was sent around Allah to this world from Paradise. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbaas stated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stated: "The Black Stone descended from Paradise." (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 877; al-Nasaa'i, 2935. The hadeeth was classed as saheeh by al-Tirmidhi)

2. The Stone was whiter than drain, however, the sins of the sons of Adam made it black. It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbaas stated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stated: "When the Black Stone descended from Paradise, it was whiter than drain, however, the sins of the sons of Adam made it black." (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 877; Ahmad, 2792. Classed as saheeh by Ibn Khuzaymah, 4/219. Al-Haafiz ibn Hajar classed it as qawiy (solid) in Fath al-Bari, 3/462).


(a) Al-Mubaarakfoori said in al-Marqaah: This implies, the wrongdoings of the sons of Adam who touched the stone, made it turn black. (4) Touching, kissing or indicating the Black Stone – this is the primary thing to be done when beginning Tawaaf, regardless of whether it is for Hajj or 'Umrah, or intentional Tawaaf. It was described from Jaabir ibn 'Abd-Allah (may Allah be satisfied with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) came to Makkah, he went to the Black Stone and touched it, then he walked to the right of it and ran three times and walked three times [around the Ka'bah]. (described by Muslim, 1218).

(5) The Prophet (peace and favours of Allah be upon him) kissed the Black Stone, and his ummah took his lead in doing so. It was narrated that 'Umar (may Allah be satisfied with him) went to the Black Stone and kissed it, at that point, he stated: "I realize that you are just a stone which can neither bring advantage nor cause hurt. Were it not that I had seen the Prophet (peace and gifts of Allah be upon him) kiss you, I would not have kissed you." (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1520; Muslim, 1720)

Nearly 2 million pilgrims performed Umrah since the start of Ramadan

  Riyadh : Close to 2 million Muslims from around the world have performed Umrah at the Grand Mosque in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Saudi Arabia since the start of the holy month of Ramadan on April 2, 2022, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. “Since the beginning of the first day of the holy month of Ramadan until the tenth day of Ramadan, nearly two million pilgrims have bought Ramadan Umrah Packages and were delegated to the Grand Mosque in line with the precautionary measures,” Osama bin Mansour, the deputy head of the Presidency General for Affairs of the two holy Mosques for congregation management said.
